Introducing the Great Southern Backyard BioBlitz!

Join the southern hemisphere’s largest citizen science event with Conservation Volunteers Australia, and discover who your wild neighbours are during The Great Southern BioBlitz!

What is a BioBlitz?

A BioBlitz is an event that focuses on finding and identifying as many species as possible in a specific area over a short period of time. At a BioBlitz, nature guides, families, students, photographers, and other community members work together to get a snapshot of what’s living in an area. This year we’re focusing close to home because of covid-19 restrictions.

All you need is a smartphone or camera, an internet connection, and a healthy dose of curiosity about what’s living in your backyard or local area.

We will send you our helpful Quick Start Guide which shows you how to register, join the BioBlitz project, and start logging observations – it’s as easy as snapping some photos and uploading like you would to social media!

Jump in now, and help map your wild neighbours to help protect and restore nature.
